Women’s Health Issues

We may be mothers doing our best but are still feeling “mom guilt.” We may struggle with being an intentional parent due to feeling overwhelmed. Other times, we simply put ourselves last and are not sure how to set boundaries for ourselves.

We might struggle with hormone regulation, weight gain, auto-immune issues, diabetes, and thyroid issues which further impact our lives. Some of us are going through relationship challenges like divorce, dating, or being a single parent and feeling lonely. We might struggle with moodiness and/or feeling frazzled, overwhelmed and tired.

As women, we wear so many hats, and it can be exhausting.

Some of us have families that require extra time and attention. Some of us are professionals that have increased demands of our time. Some of us are both…and more.

I am very passionate about helping women feel their best, because I face some of these struggles myself and empathize greatly. As a mom, shortly after having my first son, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, which is an auto-immune disorder where your body attacks your thyroid. I was losing my hair, had elevated liver enzymes, could not lose weight, and was always tired. Additionally, I was told I was pre-diabetic. This was all in spite of being in the fitness industry and working out six times per week. It just didn’t make sense to me.

I had already graduated from graduate school, but due to these issues, I started my passionate journey to not only improve my own physical health but to learn how to help others reduce inflammation and heal from the inside out.

I learned about the power of functional medicine, clean eating, reducing glycemic load, eating more alkaline and nutritionally dense foods, getting adequate sleep, and the importance of testing and intentional therapeutic supplementation. Ultimately, this led to me getting certified as an Integrative Mental Health Provider, which allows me to bring this knowledge to my clients and augment our joint efforts to give them relief.

By incorporating the principles I learned, getting my own therapy, targeting my stress, improving my sleep, exercising in a more efficient way, incorporating yoga, etc. As a result of many of these changes I no longer suffer from Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. According to my doctors my blood markers TPOAb (Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies) and TGAb (Thyroglobulin Antiibodies) are no longer elevated. In addition, my inflammation is down and my blood sugar is under control.

I feel so much more energy and my hair stopped falling out! Our bodies are so amazing and can work for you instead of against you if you give them what they need. I also have more energy for my children and clients.

I feel so passionate about empowering women to take control of their lives and make the most of their situations. Life isn’t just surviving, it’s thriving!
